fwiw, i got Lino's reference to "Coming to America."
i really think he should hire someone more his age (or older).
i mean let's be honest -- keep lou, christina, and emily. ryan stew -- deadweight, unless you consider making fun of ryan a key to the show. if all we hear from ryan is a bell ring or a "you are correct!" ... shoot, just record it once and put it to a button....
well, obviously we (and Dan) are in that late20's/30's demographic that got that and other references of our pal Lino. In fact as he was saying it today I had the commercial "LET YOUR SOUL GLO" song in my head (as well as the McDowell's reference) Face it guys (dan and oskiwow) - we're getting old.
As for Ryan, I'd just ask that people don't be too harsh on the guy. It takes awhile for people to find their chemistry/on-air voice. He's really a good guy. He's different from Maureen, for sure... but, different doesnt mean bad... just different (for you Howard Stern fans, remember when Jackie left and they got Artie - different, but good in their own ways)
I get about half the references but Lino usually hits the bullseye with those. The ones I don't I just chalk up to the fact that I can't know ever pop culture reference. Honestly, I can kick some serious tail on the Original Trivial Pursuit. But giving me anything past the mid 90's I'm lost. This is mostly do to the "dying to ones self" needed to be a father and husband. (TCG show has messed with this philosophy as of late ;-( As far as Ryan is concerned, I often get uncomfortable with Lino insessant mocking of him. What is Ryan to do? Everytime he opens his mouth he is ridiculed. Most of his comments I feel are good. I think and hope Lino and Ryan discuss this of air. I assume Ryan is fine with it. But Ryan has brought us some great segments ie riest Apreciation Day.
First off I want to send out birthday greetings to Tom Falcone. I still miss him even if Lino doesn't.
Lino in answering a question about going to a priest for marrage advise for got one important advantage to speaking to a priest even though he isn't married. That would be COMMITMENT. This of course is something Lino knows very little about. Just listen to his life in general. Even now he finds it hard to commit to his fans another year of Catholic Pleasure. So yes talking to a priest for an objective view of married life isn't a bad idea especially if you want to know about commitment.
This blog has gone dark for the forseeable future. You can keep up with the writers of catholicguyshow.blogspot.com on their own ventures by accessing the links below.

I can most of Lino's references, too. Is that mean we're "old" Father??!!! :-)
