I'm sure Lino Rulli will continue to take full credit for this

Dan @ The Brothers of The Beloved Disciple

Today I'll be officially accepted as an Aspirant into my religious community here in San Antonio at the Brothers of The Beloved Disciple. This is one small but very important step in my vocation formation here.

There's only four priests plus me in the entire community, which once inspired Lino on the air to refer to my order as a "bad fraternity."

I want to thank and all my friends in The Catholic Guy Show fan universe whose prayers, support, and harassing text messages have helped me get this far. I especially want to thank "The Appendix" Fr. Jim Chern who had the pleasure(?) of helping me through my initial What the hell am I doing freak-out when I first moved here.

Even though I'm over 1,000 miles from my family and friends, listening The Catholic Guy and getting messages from ya'll always makes me feel somehow that I'm not too far from home.

I wonder, though, what will happen first, me being ordained or Lino being able to stop going to therapy? Keep in mind my ordination, if it happens, won't be for at least another six years or so.

It's not your fault, Lino!

And yes, I really did just use a happy event in my religious formation as an excuse to goof on Lino.

We love you, man!

  1. Congrats on the first, of many steps... The next ones come faster, quicker and become a bit easier (well, hopefully)

We're all pulling for you buddy

  2. Man, way to take the thunder out my Rite of Acceptance. Oh look at Dan, he's so cool becoming a priest!!! (mean sarcasm, obviously).

Mad propz and big congratulations to you future-Father-Dan (or FFD).
Also, I've never seen Good Will Hunting, but I imagine if I did, I could never take the movie seriously...whenever that scene came up, I'd laugh thinking about Lino's funny stories about life.

  3. sorry Dustin, we're happy to have you in the family but, new priest trumps new catholic anyday dustin

Congrats Dan. That is great news. Inspiring on so many levels. You and Lino now share a significant date as today was two years that Lino has lived in NYC. I'll keep you in my prayers and a holding all calender events open for 2014 to make sure I will be able to attend your ordination.
