Running Diary Lite

For the first hour of the show today (not three because I'm lazy and I have an RCIA event during the third hour), we will have a running "Guyiary" (a new word for a man's diary, courtesy of Busted Halo) of the show. See you in a bit!

As always, this is central time...

3:00 p.m. Another day at the Catholic Guy Show, pretending that they have a holiday. When in fact, it's only the 23rd. All this week, we'll have new Catholic Guy until Friday, in which Lino will have off. Let's fire up the petitions.

3:01 p.m. Indeed, as Lino said, the show is more fun with a fifth. I just downed a shot of Bailey's, so I'm feeling good before my RCIA class tonight (which is a tour of the Parish). And now, Lino is unable to find an email. Great way to kick off the show: with a messup. I blame Ron.

3:03 p.m. We just heard Christine's refreshing laugh. Thank God you're back Christine!

3:04 p.m. Kelly's email just suggested that we do Monday's "What's on your Mind" segment each day. Personally, I think that would suck: some structure to the show is nice. Maybe not every day, but randomly select a day each week to be "What's On Your Mind."

3:06 p.m. Lino's in a bad mood. And it's not about a girl (the girl stuff is going well, Lino told Lou). Apparently, it has to do with Saint Padre Pio's feast day being today....five minutes later, we've found out that the reason Lino is angry is because Pope Linus died today, but nobody recognizes it.

Sorry, my head hit the keyboard when I dozed off waiting for that. That and I'm petty, so if that sounded mean, I apologize.

3:14 p.m. There's another reason why Lino is irritated because he's giving a talk with not a lot of people. Actually, I have to agree with him: I'd be mad too if I made plans to speak to people, and nobody cared enough to show up.

3:18 p.m. Here's Lino doing what he does best (and the very reason why I tune in each day): being honest. Recounting his commitment to be really honest on Catholic radio is a nice refresher.

3:20 p.m. Here come the phone calls. I'd like to call in, but I'm sitting in my boxers eating steamed green beans and peas with some hot sauce. I literally have nothing to bring to the table.

3:26 p.m. Nice dose of theology from Lino about God being a jealous God..basically saying that he's jealous in that he doesn't want us to put other things in front of him. Not a petty jealousy, mind you.

3:27 p.m. Lou's News! First on the big wheel, there is a rise in bed bug infestations on planes, trains and buses. For anyone who's forgotten, here is what a bed bug looks like:

3:32 p.m. Nice new voice clips of Gus. Lino's reciting animals he's thankful for. Zebras, hippos, aardvarks (Lino is a friend of the aardvark), even Unicorns are things that Lino is thankful for. "There are some that God should have just punted on." Along with bed bugs, I submit cockroaches, flies and those small handbag dogs as animals that shouldn't exist.

3:37 p.m. Lino wants to toss out the bee. Say goodbye to honey, you big jerk.

3:40 p.m. While Lino and Lou talk about Hugh Hefner and his girls, my mind has wandered (no, not in that direction). I started to wonder, what if Lino did his own reality show? Maybe it could run as a youtube channel or a similiar venue. Could do a 30 minute show each week chronicling Lino and his show, his search for a church, his dealings with people like Dan (not our Dan, the other Dan). It just seems like there should be something more. The radio show is great, but a 30 minute show each week about Lino's life would be equally great.

3:46 p.m. A small piece of chocolate is apparently healthy for you. Great, now I'm sure to live a long life!

3:51 p.m. Elliot Roosevelt, Ray Charles, and Bruce Springsteen were born today. Nice day for music. And there's another laugh from Christine.

3:53 p.m. Priest Appreciation Day is today, along with What's Lino Whistling and Free Therapy Tuesday! Nice segments in store for us later.

And with that, I close the door on this running journal of the show. Hopefully we'll pull this off someday soon! Peace be with you!
