An appreciation of greatness

For those of you who have just come over from XM radio, we're doing something worthwhile on this website: we are in the midst of Lou Appreciation Week (LAW).

Why appreciate Catholic Guy show technical director Lou Ruggieri? Simply put, because we don't have to. Lou does not require us to appreciate him, as the cares and worries of Lou do not include what we think of him. Just as God gives us free will and the choice to love him, Lou does not require our love and honor. We willingly chose to honor Lou this week.

Lou keeps his personal life a secret. All we know is that Lou has a girlfriend, lives on his own now, and works at a restaurant somewhere in the NY/NJ area. And while Lou is not God (we don't appreciate him that much), it's similiar to God's ways being above our own understanding: Lou's ways are beyond our understanding.

Lou might just be, aside from Lino Rulli, the hardest working person on The Catholic Channel. While Lou's witty banter may give the illusion that he's just propped up in a desk talking, Lou is actually in front of this huge control panel, constantly pushing buttons and checking sound levels throughout the show (you can see a pic of it in a Youtube video in an earlier post). It's definitely not an easy job. I don't think I have the focus needed to work that board and keep up with conversation.

But that is what makes Lou one badass technical director. We love you Lou Ruggieri, even though you never asked us to.
