Some people, (Lino), have raised questions as to why we here at CGS would commit a week to Lou. Longtime listeners of the show might harken back to a little over a year ago, when Lino attempted to do the same for all of his radio staff. Maureen, the ex-ex producer, was given MAW (Maureen Appreciation Week). Tom, ex phone answerer, was given TAW, (No explanation needed). LAW was to follow. And although the details are some what sketchy in my mind. (Hey, I'm not Lou's Biographer!!!! ...........Normaly, this would be the appropriate time and place to make a shameles plug for Lou's fanclub, InLouOfAFanClub @ MySpace but I won't. Why? Because, I use MySpace less and less. The few time I go there now, I just feel creepy. Kinda like the times out of boredom while my wife shops that I drift into one of those novelty stores. You know the kind with the beer signs and paraphernalia, T-shirts with crude yet funny sayings, and hidden back in the corner all the "personal" care items. Although, going into the store in itself is not a sin. Just like logging onto MySpace isn't sinful. Down deep you know there might be some things there that aren't good for your immortal soul).
But I digress like a Rulli anecdote. Like most segments on TCGS, Lino's energy for SAW (staff appreciation week) fizzled. Lou never got LAW. I think it was never mention on the Monday show, knowing Lou he didn't care and wasn't about to shamelessly remind Lino. Tuesday, Lou did get a day. Wednesday it was brought up near the end of the show. And for some reason, I believe Lino took off either Thursday or Friday and it was never mentioned again. So LAW was more of a LAD (Lou Appreciation Day).
The ironic thing about this whole week blogging about Lou is that unless Lino mentions what we've written everyday Lou won't know. He just don't care. Lou never checks out this site. His ego doesn't need it. This isn't a knock on Lou. Honestly, I admire him. Lou seems to have the ability to separate who his is from what he does. A hard thing for a man to do. I struggle with it constantly in the business world. If someone who I feel likes me goes to a competitor it bothers me. I, at times , take it too personally. Lino is on a similar level. (Of course, this blogs chances of getting air time just increased exponentially because I am now going to talk about Lino). Lino like many of us wants to be like. He has a desire to please. That is why he share so much about himself, why his is so honest and why we love the show. (Okay, enough about Lino back to Lou). Lou on the other hand, it seems, could care less. He is confident enough in himself that he doesn't feel the need to alter his personality in order to get more attention, to please more people, to make more people like him. I think that is an admirable quality that I wish I had more of.
Lino often says he is constantly consumed with the show. How to make it better, what material to bring. (Air time odds increasing). Lou, it seems, wants to keep his life outside the show private. There is a section of the Wheel of News for Lou's news. How often have we heard a Lou story. Two or three times? Why? Because Lou doesn't want us in his personal life. Work has it's place for Lou, his life beyond that is Lou's to live. I was reminded of this when I heard Lou's reaction to not being invited to a party that Lino and Jared were invited to over the weekend. A party thrown by someone from the Catholic Channel. Lou didn't seem hurt but rather relieved. Happy that he wasn't obligated to spend personal time at a Catholic Channel based party.
BTW, I have a strong suspicion Lou's exclusive hold over the segment is not because he reads so well, or the fact that Lou's and news rhyme but rather he is the only one strong enough to spin the wheel.
My next blog for LAW will try to highlight all of Lou's wonderful and whitty insights. But I think I have written enough to make people like me.

Well spoken Doug. I think the reason Lou didn't get invited to the TCC party is because that person who was hosting wanted to feel like the most popular person in the room. If Lou comes along, that popularity is diminished due to TCC's megastar strolling through.
