Thankful for Replays.

Tomorrow is a day of Thanksgiving. (News Flash!!!!) But as I contemplated this I couldn't help but go back to earlier in the week when a 13 year old girl from Montana said she cried when she heard Lino cried over his girlfriend. She also mentioned that she prays for Lino. Lino mentioned he thought that was neat. My immediate reaction was "Hey I pray for Lino". But as I did a self examination, no not that kind, you know, like an examination of conscience. I had to honestly admit my prayers were more for the show success and continuation. Down deep, more of a prayer for me than Lino. I want the show to succeed so I can get my three hours of Catholic pleasure. I am committing to change my type of prayer. Lino's happiness should be as important as mine. Right?
I think my penance for this selfishness was imposed on me today. My buddy needed to borrow my truck. Frequent readers of this blog know that this kind act on my part usually induces a great amount of stress and frustration for me. I don't trust my stiletto in the truck with him because one time he managed to shut if off. NO LINO. The other time he borrowed it I forfeited my commute time with Lino so I could leave it in my home kit to record. NO LINO. Kids messed with the antenna. Or so I thought. Today, I was proactive. Set the stiletto in the kit. Check the bars of power. Antena working. Heard Gus Loyd distinctly ..........Oh, man the agony.........my time in purgatory surely will be lessened by my act of self sacrifice and charity. Come home tonight. SEARCHING FOR SIGNAL!!!!!! Turns out my kids aren't messing with the antenna. Do you know my great scientific discover? Satellites move in the sky. After further trial and error, realized needed to drag the antenna further from the roofs overhang. Got the first half hour than the show is a mumble of digital audio blurbs. So now I have to make a decision. Skip today's show. Not go to bed with Lino Rulli. But the next two days are Linoless, I'll use up my stockpile of old CGS recorded on the stiletto. I won't have nothing fresh. Need to trust that the stiletto will record the replay. Probably wake up a few time to check on the progress. Hopefully, I will be able to give thanks tomorrow for a recorded replay. Obviously, I don't ask for much out of life.
I'm not sure which Lino quote to use:

"God why do you mock me" or "No good deed goes unpunished"

  1. You missed the show today?!?! Lino's mom was on!!

Oh, you need to listen to Lino online! Thank GOD the Catholic Channel is one that I can access from Sirius.com. I gave up trying to bring in the radio from the car and try to get a signal from inside the house. I got tired of going outside and moving the thing around. Its much better using Sirius.com.

Lest you forget, I am a cattleman. I don't work indoors. Plus if I would get home early enough to listen to it online with 5 kids in the house it is only a excercise in futility.

    Doug,
That was my daughter Molly. We were sitting at the island in our kitchen listening to Lino just like every day after school. After Lino's big announcement, I looked over at my daughter and tears were in her eyes. I asked her what was wrong and she said "Nothing, I'm just happy. I have been praying for Lino everynight that he would find a girlfriend and when he did he would keep her."

It really encouraged me that here was a 13 yr old girl who was praying for someone that she had never met, yet cared so much for his happiness that she included him in her prayers every night.

Guess there is true unselfish love for one another out there after all! You just never know where it may come from.

  4. Oh, sorry, Doug! Hmmm...there must be a way for you to be able to listen to the show when you want...
