Top 5 Prayer Possibilites for Lino Rulli

On yesterday's show, Lino talked about how he had been praying for something for several months and last week his prayer came true. He said it was in regard to the show but he was not free to announce what exactly he was praying for. This, of course, just makes my imagination run rampant so I thought of five possible things the Lino could have been praying for. These are just figments of my imagination and since my imagination can be a scary place, we won't get into TOO much detail.

#5) The show is hitting the road- Several months ago, Lino talked about how he wanted to take the show to Iraq or Afghanistan so that he could thank the troops and talk about the good work that the chaplains are doing there. Perhaps, Lino will be the next Bob Hope.

#4) They are getting rid of the commercial breaks-The breaks have been a point of contention for Lino ever since they started making him take more of them a few years ago. Maybe Lino is going to announce that he has received a dispensation from having to do breaks. From now on, we get 180 full minutes of Lino every show.

#3) In-Studio Cameras- Something else that Lino has been trying to get for years. Fans have been clamoring to be able to actually see what has been going on in studio. Can't you imagine, being able to log in and see the hilarity?

#2) Maureen is coming back!- At first, I thought maybe the announcement will have to do with getting a new producer and then I realized---Lino is just getting his old producer back! It's not like she hasn't left and come back before.

#1) A new name for The Catholic Channel- We all know that Lino is the biggest draw on The Catholic Channel, so I predict a whole new name, "The Lino Rulli Channel-All Lino, All the Time." They could play not only new TCGS episodes but also Lino at Large and "best of" after "best of" after "best of."

Those are just five of the ideas that were swimming around in my head. Of course, I have more but since it's my first post on CatholicGuyShow.com I figure I should restrain myself so I don't have to get fired already. What ideas do you guys have?

St Michael wins!

Saint Michael the Archangel is pronounced the patron saint of the Catholic Guy Show!

Prayer to Saint Michael (short version):

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the malice and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.

Sancte Michael Archangele, defende nos in praelio. Contra nequitiam et insidias diaboli esto praesidium. Imperet illi Deus, supplices deprecamur. Tuque princeps militiae caelestis, Satanam aliosque spiritus malignos, qui ad perditionem animarum pervagantur in mundo divina virtute in infernum detrude.
Amen.

Still praying for the show?

We definitely need to step up the prayer, especially after this nasty report that SiriusXM could be facing bankruptcy.

Scary stuff. But we trust that God's will will be done. Like so many others, I love The Catholic Channel, and want it to succeed beyond our wildest dreams. I don't think SiriusXM is going anywhere for a long while, but it definitely needs our prayers.

A call for prayer

Some time ago, Lino and the crew mentioned the idea of having group prayer before the show. The consensus at the time was that it was weird, wouldn't work, etc., and nothing was done.

Since I don't work for the station (how I wish I did), I can only assume that they still don't have group prayer before the show. I could be wrong, but since nobody has mentioned it on the air, we are sticking with that assumption.

Which leads me to this call to everyone who listens to the show and enjoys it (or hates it). I think that, right around 3:55-3:59 p.m. eastern time, we should all take 30 seconds to pray for Lino, the crew and the show. It doesn't have to be anything grand, anything spectacular, just a few seconds of prayer. Since the crew won't do it, we'll band together and do it for them.

Dan was right, the show needs a spiritual director. The show also needs prayer, and while an SD might be a ways off, prayer shouldn't have to wait.

I think Lino, Lou, Jared and Christine would all benefit from 30 seconds of our time.

*For two days I've been trying to give this site a redesign, but stupid blogger keeps giving me an error code every time I try to upload a template. Hopefully that gets fixed soon as the whiteness of this blog has gotten stale big time.

Sad news in the Christian Community

by dustin (the Boston Celtics fan)

We ask that you keep the family of Christian artist Steven Curtis Chapman in your prayers. Chapman's five-year-old daughter was killed after being hit by an SUV this week.

The full story is here.

May God give comfort to this family.

Lino lives it!!!

Lino lives his faith. That is one thing that has become clear to me. I was nervous with all the changes happening on the CGS that Lino would get discouraged. Heck, I was and I don't have to deal with the stress of hiring and running the show. But Lino's theological points of why he was staying is something we should all take to heart. Following the Lord is not easy. We will be challenged. We will question why. Faith is believing what you do not see. There are times in our life when the future seems uncertain, unattainable. Yet if we preserve, if we believe, pray and praise, we will find the joy God wants us to have.
I can relate to this on a personal level. Several years ago, my wife and I felt called adopt. The child had a medical condition that we were aware of and determined we could handle. When we were able to take custody of him, his medical condition was more severe than we anticipated. We were in a foreign country, scared, the future seemed so bleak so uncertain. Pray and believe. Now two years later, things are better. There are still set backs. Twice, after scheduling flights, surgery and motels, he has gotten a cold and we were told no go. Sent home to start over. We try again in a month. What does this have to do with Lino? you ask. I am egocentric. Wanting my own glory. No. The point is God does have a plan for us.
I have heard it said that we are only given a lamp unto our feet. Just enough light to see our next step. The rest of the journey is based on faith. In my case, if we would have known the day we decided to adopt the pitfalls in the future. We might have thought it to much. But now, I wouldn't change things for the world. Do I get discourage with the setbacks? Yes. Do I believe more than ever? Yes. Have I witnessed the power of God through this? Yes. More than ever. If I would have bailed, I would never have experienced the miraculous power of God. The same can be said for TCG show. Things seem a little out of wack now. But I believe God has a plan. We do need to pray for the show. It is doing tremendous things in peoples lives. The Devil don't want that happening. I thank God and admire Lino, who when panicked took this to prayer. Followed God's plan and continued his commitment to spreading the Gospel with three hours of Catholic Pleasure.
