Godspeed, Lino

From Facebook: "Lino Rulli has to announce today if I'm renewing my contract or not. Honestly, I have no idea. I'm as curious as everyone else to find out what I say. (Sorry to have dragged this out. I decided over the weekend that I'm quitting; now people are making me second guess my decision and I'm torn again...)"

Lino, my brother in Christ, I'll assume you're done with Catholic Radio. I can understand that Catholic Radio doesn't pay or give the awards that regular TV/media work does. I can understand how working for people who are shorter than you can be a drag everyday.

Because of your show, I now go consistently to Confession and even lead a ministry at my Church. You have made a positive spiritual impact on my life. If I make it to Heaven, it will be in no small part because of you and the team at the Catholic Guy Show.

I've learned alot from your show. I've laughed alot from (and sometimes at) your show. I wish you well. I hope you find whatever you are seeking from God and from life.

Just a reminder as you close up the Catholic Guy Show -- do not serve money or wear yourself out to get rich. (Matthew 6:24-34; Proverbs 23:4; 1 Timothy 6:9-10). All the Emmys, awards, and money in the world won't do diddly if you can't fit your nose through the gates of Heaven.

God bless you, brother!

  1. I had previously decided that Lino would not leave, and also that there was no longer any chance that he would enter the priesthood.

Now I think there is a good chance (eventually) of both.

  2. If it's truly God's will for Lino to leave and maybe enter the priesthood, I would be okay with that.

But I think the issue here is serious creative differences.

I've always felt frustrated that we listeners don't really have a voice with The Catholic Channel. We know Rob Astorino and Joe Zwilling are in charge and answer to Archbishop Dolan. I've also heard that there's some type of committee that meets re the structure of TCC. Why the HELL don't we listeners have a voice?

If TCGS could continue with some of Lino's innovations, it should, because it's bringing so many people back to the Church. THAT'S WHAT MATTERS!!!

As a long-time listener of TCC, I think we deserve some type of email or phone number where we could give OUR ideas and suggestions for ALL the shows. As a Lino fan, I think it's only fair we can give our voice of support for him to his bosses. Then if it's truly time for Lino to move on, go to Italy and get his STD, I could be at peace.

If anyone has any definite email addresses and phone numbers for Rob, Joe, the Archbishop, please share. Thanks! And thanks Lino for all you do.

  3. Cat says:

Elaine, we do have a voice - did we choose to use that voice? I posted a couple of weeks ago that we the fans needed to contact both Sirius and the Archdiocese of New York. I left phone messages both places. But I think most people did not believe Lino was actually going to leave, so they didn't worry about it.

However, I will send an e-mail. I just got an address off facebook:

    archbishop@thecatholicchannel.org

Lino has had an impact on all our lives. I don't think he will become a priest - I think his true calling was that of a regular guy - a catholic lay person and how to integrate our faith and get closer to God without becoming a "holy roller". He showed that you could have a realtionship with God and still be a fun, normal person.

I wish him the very, very best and I respect his decision, although I will greatly miss his show. But at least I get to drop my subscription to Sirius.

I plan to send an e-mail tonight to express my disappointment.

  4. Please don't drop your subscription to SiriusXM (Lino would agree with me 100 percent). There are so many good shows on the channel that need our support as well. They're trying hard as well to be different, fun Catholic radio.
