Lou and Lino made the statement that Turkeys can't fly. This is only partially correct. Domestic birds because of their weight cannot fly and because they are usually raised in enclosed pens don't but their cousins in the wild do fly.
Wild turkeys can fly to about 50 feet and since they roost in the branches of trees at night need this ability to get up into the tree. They also fly to get away from predators who like to eat them. Lighter birds can fly up to about 55mph.
