Tweet of The Day #6 - Thanksgiving Edition

Lino has good witty banter. Seeing his struggle to get it in under 140 characters is even funnier. We present Lino's Tweet of the Day!

Lino flew home to be with Mama Rulli on thanksgiving (aw, what a sweet boy) and shares something he is thankful for.

Today's post is dedicated to the Turkey that got pardoned at the white house, and also, to the turkey that didn't get pardoned.  Let's be real here, we all know they had some tasty turkey on thanksgiving.

The best and worst of Lino Rulli's Twitter, 7.24.11 through 7.31.11

Lino Rulli is very proficient when it comes to Twitter. He tweets on a daily basis, free of charge at twitter.com/linorulli. Sometimes his tweets are solid, other times not so much. Each week, we find four tweets of Lino's that are solid, funny, and worth the time it took to read, and then we find a dud. Hey, nobody's perfect.

The best
Brett Favre is trending again. If he's not going back to the NFL, I think he should take Weiner's seat in Congress.  - July 24

NFL players & owners agree to terms. There WILL be a season! Sadly, the Detroit Lions are already mathematically eliminated.  - July 25

Looks like Donovan McNabb is coming to my Vikings! We love old QB's. I haven't seen this many old guys since the last Papal Conclave. - July 27

Just boarded the flight to NY and didn't get upgraded to First Class. Where is God when you need Him?  - July 31

Groan-inducing
Another restful night of sleep in a hotel. Thankfully, no woman tried to break in and steal anything or I'd have had to Trebek her. - July 31

Tweets of the week

In addition to being a funny guy on Catholic radio, Lino Rulli has turned to Twitter to entertain us. Some of the tweets are solid, while some of them inspire groans. Here are some of our favorites, along with this week's dud Twitter update (hey, not every tweet is a winner.

As always, you can decide for yourself by following Lino Rulli on Twitter, using the screen name @linorulli.

Fun tweets.

Social Networking Fun

It's very close to three years ago that The Catholic Channel started on Sirius 159. One thing that Lino did very early was to make himself available on email lino@thecatholicchannel.org, as well as on Social Networking, mainly on My Space.

I did sign up as one of his friends on My Space; I was one of the original 13 (put me on a flag.) These were the days before Facebook and Twitter got so popular! Lino quickly accumulated many friends, Discerning Dan started an Unofficial Fan Club for Lino, among others.

This led to me, and others, making new friends that I might not have otherwise met. And we found other interests that drew us together; for example, I met Kate, who also loves Vera Bradley pocketbooks ;) Now I know some of the guys are shaking their heads at this, but at the same time, it makes it much more fun to get to know the other listeners.

May the next three years, and many others, bring us more fun, fellowship, and learning and loving our Catholic Faith.

Tweet Tweet!

So, after thinking this over for a few day, I finally decided that I should sign up for twitter. Last night, while trying to go to bed, I was thinking of a user name. I finally came up with MLEcatholicGAL. So look me up and follow me!

Showcasing Twitter

Lino needs Twitter followers. Honestly, if he gets almost a hundred more, he gets to take Fr. Dave out to lunch. There's no victory in it for us, other than our favorite Catholic Guy becoming more popular (and thus increasing the size of his ... paycheck).

So to alleviate that, there's been a change to the blog. On the right of this post, there is a Twitter feed showing the most recent post from Lino himself, the blog, and some account called Fake Lino.

The difference in the three is simple. Lino's twitter updates keep the world updated on what he's doing at any particular time. The Catholic Guy Show twitter feed is mainly updated by me whenever there's breaking news on the show, or upcoming segments of particular interest. Not run by Lino or his crew at all. And Fake Lino? Well, I have no clue who that man/woman is, only that it's a funny mockery of Lino. If the person behind Fake Lino reads this, I'd love to find out who you are, as the idea of a "Fake Lino Rulli" on Twitter is wildly hilarious.

Anyways, get on Twitter and follow away: it's the fastest way to get breaking Lino news (we twittered about Lino's Facebook relationship status turning single the moment he announced it on the radio).

Hopefully the sidebar will make this more visible and add to Lino's follower count. And keep you more in the loop as well.

The photo has nothing to do with anything. Although, if you could come up with a Catholic Guy Show-themed caption for it in the comments section, that'd be great.

Ah, how obvious...

Greg Willits, Mr. WAM himself, has 1,018 followers on twitter.

Lino has only 109.

Could this be why Lino was not happy about his tweeting yesterday?

Thank God we're not judged by the number of Twitter followers we have.

(St. Michael, pray for us!)

Today's Show

Lino said that Jared must now bring guests with the same first names:

  • Thom Peterson -- from Catholics Come Home;
  • Thom Crogwell -- some dude who wrote alot of books.

Lino wants to hear from guys named "Tom."

Lino is also talking about his over-twittering.

Giving away Rullis

If you keep up with the Twitter account, you got a message late last night saying that we were going to start giving away "Rulli" awards.

For anyone who does not pay attention to the Twitter feed, the premise is simple. Each day, we'll scour Lino's Facebook page for a witty, insightful, positive or just plain creative comment left on his wall. Since he has more than 1400 friends, it should be easy to do. Then we'll send out a Twitter alert announcing who won the day's Rulli, and do our best to shrink the comment into the Twitter-friendly 140 characters for mass publication.

Who knows, maybe we'll come up with a monthly and yearly award too. I think it'd be fun to give some creative minds some recognition.

Let the Facebook commenting commence!

Twitter? I hardly know her!

Yes, the post title is a little creepy. But bear with me.

If Lino Rulli is going to refer to this blog as the unofficial Lino Rulli fan club, then we'd better be at the top of our game! It's the reason for the redesign, as the better site will better serve Lino fans who access the blog (I'm glad for the positive comments received so far).

For the latest update, if you'll look at the sidebar on the right, you'll see an item called Twitter Updates. What is Twitter?  Twitter is a way for people to post updates on their lives quickly and easily for others to read. News organizations (including my secular newspaper I work for) use Twitter to send news alerts to others.

Here at catholicguyshow.com, we'll be using it to update you with breaking news on the show, upcoming guests, etc. Think of it as a newswire for The Catholic Guy Show.

The cool thing is, you can sign up for Twitter, and receive the updates we post directly on your cell phone via text message. It comes in handy if something big happens on the show (Lino getting engaged, for example). If you are away from the radio, you can get a text message updating you with that news. That way, you can run to your radio, turn it on and catch the rest of the story.

I think the Twitter updates will be an added benefit to you, and it gives Dan, Fr. Jim, Doug in Kansas, Mike in Detroit, Marty the Cop and I an easier way to update the blog, and keep you in the loop a little more often.

I look forward to the more interactive experience with you!
